Assign/re-assign users to Groups
Who can do this:
- Anyone with the Users (editable) permission
Once you've set up the Groups and any Teams you want, you're ready to assign users to them. Users can also be re-assigned to different Groups when needed.
Follow the steps on this page, if:
- You've already added and invited users, but haven't selected their Group or Team assignment yet.
- You want to change a user's Group or Team assignment. This overrides the existing one, and could impact content visibility.
What if I haven't invited users yet?
If not, you can choose a user's Group or Team assignment at the time you add them. See Add & invite a user.
Assign or re-assign a user to a Group or Team by editing the user's profile.
To assign or re-assign a single user:
1. Go to Admin ➤ Users.
2. In the user list, select the row of the user.
- The Edit user window opens. Their current assignment appears under Selected Groups, Teams.
3. Under By Group, Team, select the Group or Team you want to assign to the user.
4. Click Save.
Can a user belong to more than one Group or Team?
A user can be a member of only one Group or Team at a given time.
Assign users who do not have a Group or Team yet, or re-assign users to a new one.
To assign or re-assign multiple users:
1. Go to Admin ➤ Users.
- On the page below, you'll see the user list.
2. Tick the checkbox next to each user.
3. At the top of the list, click Re-Assign.
- The Re-Assign items window opens.
4. Under By, Group, Team, select the group you want.
5. At the bottom, click Re-Assign.
6. In the dialog, confirm if that's what you want to do by clicking Re-Assign.
- All the users you selected will now belong to that Group or Team.
