Engage users effectively
The more you can promote your app internally to your employees, the higher the engagement will be. Here are some ways to get users onboard, both initially and continually.
You could use existing internal communication channels such as email, newsletters, or intranet to introduce the app to employees and invite them to sign up.
Display posters and the Panel (.com/panel) on digital screens in high-traffic areas within the workplace, showcasing the upcoming Challenges, news, items, and so on.
Make your app a natural extension of your organization's rhythm and priorities.
By aligning the app's content with your existing calendar and culture, you’ll create a harmonious experience that reflects your organization’s unique dates and activities. For example:
- Promote important dates and events in your calendar, including traditional holidays (e.g., Valentine's day).
- Schedule regular features, whether daily, weekly, or monthly segments (e.g., Pick of the Week, Give a Rave Day, Wellness Wednesdays, etc.).
- Plan recurring themes such as trivia, hobbies, wellness, and financial tips.
- Mirror your company’s values.
- Use surveys to find out what they're most interested in doing or learning about.
- Have team leads post their own videos to their cohorts
Clearly communicate the features and benefits of the app for employees, whether that's how it will support their health and wellness goals, provide them access to essential resources, keep them informed about what's happening at your organization, and so on.
Encourage new hires to download the app and link to onboarding materials in the app that they need to access.
Even if the content is housed somewhere else, such as Sharepoint, you could include a section in the app for new employees, with links they'll need to reference throughout the onboarding process.
Set up interactive Challenges or activities to encourage friendly competition and provide a unique experience, all within the app.
When inviting them to the App Store listing, communicate clearly about the Challenges you have going on, and the tangible rewards/points (if using).
What's the most effective way to engage users?
Refresh has found that Challenges and any content tied to them, along with Rewards and Recognition engage users the most. The more you can make content engaging by connecting it to regular Challenges, the better.
Second to that would be making it a central resource for info, recognition, and other company-related info.
Highlight the exciting Rewards and Points employees can earn by participating in a Challenge, or by giving and receiving recognition through the app. Additionally, craft your own special deals for employees, or make our Core Marketplace available offering nationwide offers and discounts. (See Marketplace.)
Encouraging peer recognition through Raves and sharing content that highlight employee achievements are also ways to bring people into the app. (e.g., Give a Rave Day, Employee of the Day or Week).
Share regular Challenges, company updates, and new content to keep employees engaged. You could schedule all your content in advance, aligning it with your company calendar and monthly themes that are relevant to your employees.
