Step tracking
Get answers about how steps are tracked and scored in a challenge.
A step challenge is based on the number of steps you complete within the scoring period. The format of the score depends on calculation type in the particular setup. For example, with a goal of 5,000 steps, requiring daily consistency over a fixed seven-day period—walking six out of seven days results in a final score of 86%.

Why does the scoring period matter when viewing your score?
The scoring period defines when your steps count. If it's not taken into account, you may think your totals are off—especially in recurring challenges that reset daily, weekly, or monthly. A lower-than-expected score often just means the period has restarted.
Refresh syncs automatically with Apple Health (iOS) and Google Health Connect (Android) to track your steps:
- Syncing starts instantly when you open your first step challenge and accept permissions—and applies to all future challenges.
- Steps keep syncing in the background—on iOS, about every hour and when you reopen the app; on Android, every 15 minutes.
- Manual entries do not count, so everyone plays fair!
Users just open a step challenge to get syncing started!
To get started with a step challenge, follow these steps:
- Go to the Challenges section of the app.
- Find your step challenge and click Activate.
- Syncing setup depends on your device:
- iPhone: You'll be prompted to connect to Apple Health. Tap Allow to grant permission for step syncing.
- Android: You'll be prompted to install Health Connect if you haven’t already. Once installed, you'll be guided to grant the required permissions.
You'll start earning steps immediately.
This usually means step permissions haven’t been granted. To allow the app to read your step data, follow the steps below based on your device.
iPhone:
- Open your Apple Health app.
- Tap Sharing > Apps.
- Select your app (e.g., Largeco).
- Toggle on Steps to allow the app to read your step data.
Android:
- Open the Health Connect app.
- Tap App permissions under Permissions and data.
- Select your app (e.g., Largeco).
- Toggle on Steps to allow the app to read your step data.
