Scores, wins, & completions

8min

Users earn credit when they complete specific activities related to a Challenge goal:

  • Viewing a trigger, like watching a video
  • Taking steps
  • Submitting a form, verifying the goal was completed

These activities form the basis for the scores they receive, and determine whether they successfully complete the Challenge goal.

A note on scores vs. points

Scores are automatically given to everyone in a Challenge for completions and wins, within the timeframe of the Challenge.

Points are tied to Rewards and awarded only when selected in the Challenge setup. You can award points for completions, wins, and Raves, which users can then collect over time, give away, or redeem for Rewards you've set up.

In the Challenge Summary:

  • The number of points a completion is worth is displayed under Point Reward.
  • The place and scores of all users invited to a Challenge are listed.

How a Challenge is won

In a Challenge, the aim is to do the selected activity the specified frequency or total number of times within a fixed timeframe or period, known as the Challenge goal. When this goal is achieved, it counts as a completion.

The user with either the highest score or who gets a completion within the timeframe, wins the Challenge.

Scoring

Scoring begins on the Challenge's start date. Each time users view a trigger, take steps, or self-report via a form, they increase their score, moving them toward a completion and a possible win.

For example, if the Challenge goal is to "Visit Yoga video at least three times each day, between 9/18 and 9/28", three views are required every day, to get one completion between 9/18 and 9/28. In this case, a completion is also a win.

Everyone invited to a Challenge receives a score, regardless of whether they participate, even if it's a zero or incomplete.

Can users get credit for exceeding a goal?

No credit is given for exceeding the goal, whether it's extra views or steps, or completing the form multiple times.

Completions & wins

One or multiple completions could be required to win, depending on how a Challenge is set up. But, even if someone gets multiple completions, they could be surpassed by those with a higher score.

The number of completions a user can get credit for in a given Challenge, depends on the timeframe and period in the setup, as shown below.

Period

Recurring

Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly

One every day, week, month, or year

How do I use existing content in a Challenge?

Scoring in a recurring Challenge is always retroactive. So if a form was active before you started a Self-Reporting Challenge, users will get credit if they already completed the form. The same applies to an App View Challenge, if they previously viewed the content. However, in a custom fixed timeframe, scoring isn't retroactive.
