Review your layout setup
Use these questions to help guide your layout structure and plan content effectively for different sets of users.
Use multiple layouts when:
- The content differs significantly across groups—more than just one or two sections.
- You’re serving completely different sets of users (e.g., clients versus employees).
Yes! If the content and features are mostly the same, you can use the same layout across multiple groups or teams.
If there are small differences, you can either:
- Use Vary a section by assignment to tailor specific sections for each group, team or user tag, or
- Adjust content availability within a shared section, based on who should see it.
Use Vary section by assignment to show a different version (set) of a single section based on group, team, or user tag. This is ideal when most of your layout stays the same, but one section needs to vary by segment.
Use sets if:
- Most of your layout will stay the same.
- Only one or two sections need to vary.
Use multiple layouts instead if:
No. If you only need to control which items appear (e.g., Forms, Focus Content, Sequences, Media, Marketplace) within a section adjust the content availability settings instead—no need to vary the entire section.
There’s no strict limit on the number of sections in a layout, but it’s best to keep things clean and easy to navigate. Focus on the most relevant content to avoid overwhelming users with too many sections.
If you delete a group or team layout that’s currently in use, users will see the top-level organization layout until you add a new one.
