Multiple layouts

2min

Depending on how users have been segmented into Groups, including Teams, both the layout and design (colors and branding) of your app can be different for each set of users.

Each Group can have its own separate and unique layout, so a user from one Group has a entirely different experience from another. Alternatively, Groups can inherit the layout of the organization. This is illustrated below.

By default, all Groups inherit the organization’s layout and design (colors and branding), but you can customize it so that:

  • Each Group inherits the same layout as the organization, but has a different design.
  • Each Group has its own unique layout, but all share the same design.
  • Each Group has a different layout and design from the organization.

Since Teams are sub-groups of Groups, the same concept applies to them as well. See also User segmentation.

When do I use multiple layouts?

It's recommended to use multiple layouts if the content or design for Groups will differ in more than a couple of sections.

If most content stays the same across Groups, a single layout works best. You can still personalize the experience to Groups, Teams or tagged individuals by:

Planning the content and features you want in advance will ensure your layouts align with how you intend to assign content.
