Watch a video
Who can do this:
- Anyone with editing permissions for Challenges, Media Collections, Media Items, Homescreen, and Messages
- Additional viewing permission is required for the Video Library, if using
Create an App View Challenge to encourage users to watch a video weekly, on an ongoing basis. Use the same video throughout the Challenge, or regularly replace the video with a new one.
Here is a summary of this Challenge:
- Goal: Get users to watch a video each week, continually.
- Challenge type: App View Challenge with completions tracked through video views within the app.
- Incentive: Complete the Challenge and learn something.
- Competition type: Solo—the focus is on getting credit for watching the video.
- Preparation: Ensure your video is uploaded it to your media library or as a collection. For help, refer to Create a Media Collection.
How do I use a YouTube video?
If you prefer to use a YouTube video instead of your own, you can publish a YouTube video using the Focus Content option. See Add Focus Content.
Add an App View Challenge
After you have uploaded your video or created a media collection, do the following:
- Go to Engagement ➤ Challenges and click Add.
- Select Create from App View.
- In the Select App View window, choose your media.
A New Challenge setup window opens.
Complete the Challenge setup
In the setup, fill in the details:

Type | Select Content, Event, or Form. |
Trigger | The video you selected in step one automatically appears here. |

Period | Select Weekly. |
Calculation type | Select At least once. Credit is given for watching the video at least once, each week, or not. |
Goal summary | This is generated for you. Click Copy to description. |
Solo Challenge | Select this so that users can only see their own scores. |
Availability | Assign the Challenge by selecting Groups/Teams or Tags. |
Save & notify
When you save the Challenge, send a message about it:
- In the bottom-right, select Save and send message.
- Choose recipients, select a channel and enter a brief message (e.g., Learn about work safety. Take the viewing challenge!)
- Click Send message.
Your message goes out to the recipients you selected, and the Challenge continues until you disable or remove it.
Change video (optional)
During the Challenge, update the video by editing the original content:
- Go to Posts ➤ Media and update your video.
- Go to Engagement ➤ Challenges and select the Challenge.
- In the Setup, select the Trigger and choose the new video.
- Click Save and send message.
How can I quickly end the Challenge?
To end the Challenge and remove it from view, simply toggle the Disable button in the far-right column of your Challenge list.
