Admin access overview

Below is an overview of how you can control access to the dashboard through the user's admin level and role.

Access by admin level

Admins can belong to different groups or teams than the one they administer, but can be made an admin of one level only:

  • Org-level: Privileges apply across the organization, including all Groups and Teams.
  • Group-level: Privileges are limited to a specific Group and any Teams within it.
  • Team-level: Privileges are limited to a specific Team.

The effects of designating a user an admin is described below.

Enables dashboard access

Admins gain access to the dashboard. What specific menus are visible within the Dashboard is determined by the roles you assign them.

Aligns Admin menu with admin level

The Admin menu always corresponds to the admin's level. This includes users, tags, and structure & settings.

While the layout, design, and join codes pertain to the admin's level, the technical settings, (app name, login/signup type, and intro screen) can only be made accessible to org-level administrators.

Matches Availability & Display tags with admin level

The same Groups/Teams and Tags visible in the Admin menu can also be made accessible to admins in the Availability and Display tags sections, seen when creating and placing content.

How do I control what an admin can do with tags?

Admins need a role with the homescreen (editable) permission to use tags to assign and place content, and the Tags (editable) permission to edit tags.

Access by admin role

Admin roles provide enhanced control over what admins can access and do within the dashboard. Here's how you can use them:

  • Create multiple roles with tailored permissions for different dashboard tasks, such as user management and design editing.
  • Set permissions with visibility and editable options that can be toggled as needed.
  • Assign one or more roles to admins, which apply within their designated admin level.
  • Each role grants access to only the dashboard menus relevant.
